Quinn West, LICSW (they/them/any)
I am a musician, educator, independently licensed Social Worker, and now a small-business owner as well. I truly enjoy hearing others' perspective and life experience - I believe that each person is a content-area expert in their own life, and I try to keep that in the forefront of my mind when working with people.
My Story
I was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to a loving family of Methodist preachers. For my formative years I grew up in the church, which is where I found my love of music, people, and community. Somewhere along the way, I decided I wanted to devote my life to helping and serving people in whatever way I could. Although I initially pursued Music Education to become a band director, I quickly learned that is not where I was meant to be.
I decided that I would help people in a different way. I had the honor of obtaining my Master's of Social Work at Jacksonville State University. During my internships, I realized that I quite enjoy spending my time in recovery rooms where people gather together to help overcome problems that are bigger than one person can manage. I worked full-time as an addictions counselor with Bradford Health Services for two years, which is where I fell in love with the therapeutic process for small groups and individuals.
